Motorola sues Apple..!! I think its like "clash of the titans"...!! Anyways let me provide you with some details regarding why this technology giants are fighting...:)
You may be aware of the fact that some days before, on Friday oct 1st Microsoft had filed a complaint against Motorola regarding patent infringement. Microsoft, in its complaint in International Trade Commission and U.S. fedaral court had said Motorola android phones infringe nine patents. Well ... that's a week old news.. But now Motorola has sued Apple for the same reason...'patent infringement'...!!
Motorola has filed the complaint with US International Trade Commission and courts in Illinois, where the company has its headquarters. Motorola said in its complaint that, Apple's iPhone, iPad, ipod Touch and certain macintosh computers, infringe 18 patents, which are related to early-stage innovations developed by Motorola in key technology areas.
The patents relate to antenna design, wireless email, proximity sensing, software application management, location-based services and multi-device synchronization, Motorola said in a statement.
Motorola has asked ITC to investigate Apple's patent infringement issues and and also to bar the importation and sale of infringing products in the United States.
What Kirk Dailey, Motorola Mobility's corporate vice president of intellectual property says regarding the sue is "We have extensively licensed our industry-leading intellectual property portfolio, consisting of tens of thousands of patents in the US and worldwide.After Apple's late entry into the telecommunication market, we engaged in lengthy negotiations, but Apple has refused to take a license, We had no choice but to file these complaints to halt Apple's continued infringement"
So lets wait n see where would this fight lead and what could be the output..:)
But FYI, such law suits are more usual amoung the technology giants than you can imagine...!
As I said above, Microsoft has sued Motorola, now Motorola is suing Apple. Apple is also currently being sued by Nokia and as an answer Apple has come up with a countersuit against Nokia. HTC and apple are also currently suing each other over android phones......!!
There are lot more..!! I think its kind of funny..how these giants in the software and technology world are fighting each other. isn't it..??
